On April 30, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, visited the horticulture and cold storage complex of Ismikhanli LLC in the Qusar district. The Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, briefed the President on the activities of the complex. It was reported that the company has established intensive orchards using the latest technologies on 330 hectares in Qusar and 30 hectares in Agsu. Currently, 230 hectares are planted with apple trees, 35 hectares with pears, 26 hectares with peaches, 21 hectares with nectarines, and 18 hectares with cherry trees. The establishment of such orchards allows for the most efficient use of agricultural land and achieves high productivity. The cultivation, sale, and export of the fruits grown here continue throughout the year. In addition to supplying the local market, the products are exported to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia. To ensure more precise and efficient agro-technical work in the orchards, specialists from Turkey, Italy, and Spain have been involved. High-efficiency drip irrigation technology is used, which ensures ecological sustainability and prevents water loss. The farm’s machinery park is equipped with modern equipment from leading global companies. The cold storage complex was commissioned in October 2023. The complex consists of a refrigerated fruit warehouse with a capacity of 8,700 tons, sorting and packaging areas, a materials warehouse, finished product storage, and loading sections. The refrigerated warehouse is equipped with 29 cooling chambers, each with a capacity of 300 tons. Modern equipment in the sorting area allows fruits to be sorted by color, shape, and size, ensuring that products are packaged according to market requirements. Additionally, packaging boxes are prepared using equipment capable of folding and sealing over a thousand boxes per hour. The Ismikhanli horticulture and cold storage complex, with a project cost of 18 million AZN, provides permanent employment for 270 people and seasonal employment for 400 people. The project was partially financed with a 3.3 million AZN concessional loan from the Entrepreneurship Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy. The company also benefited from customs and tax exemptions during equipment imports.
